Dedicated to Saint Bartholomew.
The church’s contemporary architectural design was produced by P. Dumas’s business partner Cyrille Gard, and it was consecrated on 28 October 1973 by Monsignor Nestor Adam, Bishop of Sion.

Its lines of light and finesse aim to inspire exaltation of the soul and peace. The statue of the Virgin Mary in old oak by Lacome, acquired in Lourdes, the stained glass window “Nuée de Moïse” painted by Canon Voirol and the tabernacle on the pillar of fire, purchased in Turin, are particularly noteworthy. These three works from three different countries symbolize the cosmopolitan nature of Christianity in Verbier. The church is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, continuing the village’s long tradition of venerating this patron saint (see the former stone-built chapel 300 metres from here).

The bell tower and its three bells are also of note: the bell in the key E weighs 1224kg and is 127cm in diameter (dedicated to St Bartholomew), the bell in the key G weighs 715kg and is 108cm in diameter (dedicated to Our Lady of Peace) and the bell in the key A weighs 624kg and is 96cm in diameter (dedicated to Saint Joseph). All three are inscribed with the words “bell foundry H. Rütschi SA Aarau.”

Offer a prayer to God through Saint Bartholomew, the apostle of friendship, who tradition identifies as Nathaniel. He is the patron saint of our parish. Our church is still waiting for a spiritual sign marking this glorious protection.
