Summer and autumn are the ideal seasons for capturing the natural beauty of the Swiss Alps in all their splendour in a photograph. After a short theoretical lesson, you will set off on a walk to discover the natural beauty of the region of Verbier, which will be your “classroom” and provide the inspiration behind your photography. The outings will be adapted depending on the season and physical capacity of the participants, allowing you to take full advantage of your time with Sébastien Albert.
Throughout the morning of the course, we will look at the following subjects:
1. USING NATURAL LIGHT
Understand where the light is coming from and the effect it has on your subject.
• Recognise different types of light (backlighting, shafts of light effect, etc.)
• Create depth using an interplay of shadows and lights
2. COMPOSITION
Apply general rules to create well-balanced images with a big visual impact.
• Focus (capturing with precision and singling out the main subject(s))
• Rule of thirds (understand what this means and learn to use it wisely)
• Simplicity (learn how to convey a clear message through the simplicity of the composition)
• Leading lines (create an image full of energy and movement: graceful curves or dynamic diagonals)
• Repetition (learn to repeat shapes and textures: patterns for creating rhythm and movement)
Individual attention will be given to each participant and each camera brand.
At the end of the outing, you will be asked to choose your favourite images and send them to your teacher, who will send you some constructive feedback in return.
