Rich fauna typical of subalpine and alpine areas. The emblematic animal of the region is the Ibex
After nearly disappearing from Valais at the end of the 19th century, the ibex was reintroduced to the federal game reserve of Mont Pleureur in 1928.

There are now hundreds of ibexes populating the slopes on the right-hand side of the valley. Chamois, by contrast, mainly live on the left side of the valley. Haut Val de Bagnes is also a popular breeding ground for weasels, hares and pine martens.
