If you’re lucky, you might be able to bank a few magical memories of chamois or other wild animal encounters.... Following the trail from Lourtier, you climb a steep slope on a path that shifts between grass, gravel and forest. A 1,600-m uphill leads to a mountain pasture at the base of the famous freeriders' mountain, the Bec des Rosses, where ruins of old barns capture the imagination. Once you've conquered the last steep section, stop for a moment at the top of the Col Termin and take in the magnificent view over the entire Bagnes valley.
You feel alone in the world, in touch with the environment, giving you the strength to try the steep descent where some short sections are equipped with chains to reach Louvie stables, followed by the lake, a jewel of blue where you finally reach the hut. In this little corner of paradise, surrounded by nature, you hope time doesn't pass too quickly so that you’re revied enough to put your legs to the test again on the steep, sometimes sheer, descent back to Lourtier village.
